Made it back from Branson, wasn’t the most enjoyable way to travel but we made it. Still need to finish the work for them.
Had dinner and attended the Mavs game with the Huston’s on Saturday. Had a good time, their seats are even closer to the floor than before. Nice of them to invite us.
The last 24 hours have been painful for DFW local sports fans. Cowboys and Mavs both decided to take the day off. Too bad the other teams didn’t. As much as I like Roy Williams I’m pretty sure he couldn’t cover a fire hydrant if he had too.
Not that anybody reads this, but if you have a clue what Web 2.0 is could you fill me in? I’ve seen more headlines and buzz about Web 2.0 than John Cougar Mellencamp has sung “…from the East coast, to the West coast; down the Dixie highway, back home…this is our country.” I still have no idea what it is. I have come to believe now that it is just a marketing word. Since it’s that easy, I am thinking that I will start branding things as 2.0 as well. Welcome to my new blog 2.0. Nothing has changed from version 1.0 but it sounds cool and will probably attract more viewers. May have to move to 3.0 though if 2.0 starts to slow down.
Sorry dad, but its that time of year… some good Christmas music for your listening pleasure:
So kiss me, and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go…
For the second time in 6 days, my bags are loaded and waiting by the door. I am headed out in the morning to board an uncomfortably small plane bound for Branson, MO. Happy though that it is only for a night. Should be back on Tuesday and its a good thing too. Way too much to do this week and a short week to do it in.
Had a nice time on Saturday, the Rockettes show was better than expected and the time spent with the Shiflets’ was nice. The Cowboys pulled off a win on the road against the new york football giants, even when I was watching the score on my phone from church. technology is great. ten years ago, I could maybe see 3-4 Cowboy games a year, now I can follow every play on my cell phone.
Speaking of cell phones, mine better be nice to me, it’s on a short leash. I’m about 2 dropped calls from tossing it ever-so-gently through the window of the first Sprint store I see.
It’s too late now, gotta go to bed. Hoping that I will have Internet and time to work when I get to MO.
Branson, MO current temp: 7 degrees
Yes, you read that correct. Single digits. Small plane. One engine. Snow.
Although it has been basketball season for a month now, it hasn’t necessarily felt like it. Even if I have watched a majority of games played thus far, I haven’t been struck down with Mavs fever, yet. I think I can attribute the slow climb into full on basketball form to two main reasons: The 2006 NBA Finals and Tony Romo.
The Mavs foray into the finals last season upped the standards. Fans now know that it is attainable and not too much in the regular season matters other than staying healthy and gelling as a team. As of tonight, I think I can safely say that the Mavs are working pretty well as a team. After starting the season 0-4, they have come together to rattle off 12 straight victories and solidify themselves as an early contender again this year.
The other reason I, and many others in the ‘chicken-fried nation,’ are a little slow to reign in basketball season is the emergence of Tony Romo and the fact that the Cowboys have given us to cheer for something in December. Its about time. Parcels has had enough time to get ‘his’ players and system in place over the last four years. Its time to shine. For those who haven’t been ‘Romo’genized, get on the bandwagon now. The guy has that indescribable moxy needed to lead the Cowboys back to their spot as America’s team. Best of all, he does it with a smile on. He almost looks like he heads out there every time to play a pick-up game of sandlot football. And trust me, if you’re picking players for your sandlot team, Romo needs to be on your list.
Just got back from SPI yesterday. Shot some tours, tried to scrounge up some new business. ‘Tis nice to have a job that not only allows you, but pays you to go to the beach. Weather permitting, I will be drowning in Dramamine Monday morning as I head to Branson, MO in one of technology’s (not so) finer creations:
Pray for me as I white knuckle it to and from ‘Geriatric Vegas’ early next week. If all goes well, I will be front and center of Boxcar Willie or Andy Williams by evening time.
I guess this would be my first attempt at bloglife. Not exactly sure what I am attempting to accomplish, I just always seem to find myself thinking “self, you should write about that.”
There are no goals, no intended audience, no cause that I can think of. Just things that I find, think, or see.
Read along if you’re inclined. Who knows how long it will last? Aspen is the expert, and so far the expert communicator, so if you really want something fun, inspiring, and usually heart-felt you should mosey on over to her little place on the web: http://daventatemarshall.blogspot.com/
Who knows, maybe I’ll try and help her set up a domain and make it official.
