Bringing (clear) sight to the world

I wear contacts daily and glasses in the evening when my eyes wear out for the day. I can see without them but I wouldn’t say it would be the safest for me to operate a vehicle or similar machinery sans lenses.

For some reason, as a kid (and as an adult, I suppose) one of the things that seemed to always choke me up a little was when I saw a young person whose glasses got broken or were “mended” somehow. Not exactly sure why, but I assume it had to do something with knowing how much glasses cost and the fact that I didn’t grow up in the most affluent of areas.

Seeing clearly is one of the things we take completely for granted and one of the reasons I stretch the life of my contacts far longer than the doctor/box recommend. I am fortunate enough to be in the position to afford to see things as they are but know worldwide there are many who cannot claim the same. Which is why the following article caught my attention this afternoon: (more…)

My town made ESPN…

Knowing for several years about the Gainesville State School and their football team from both buddies in college and now the workplace, the story of the Tornadoes isn’t new to me.

What is new is that for the first time this year our local Christian school, Grapevine Faith, played the kids from up north (armed guards, as always) and served them up a little of what I call God’s grace.

Nice work, Lions. And LCS Warriors/LCHS Eagles/any other school that takes the time to host this team yearly. I guarantee even if the Gainesville players go 0-8 every year, they wouldn’t trade it for anything other than forgiveness and/or freedom.

Shameless plug

I’ve officially been published. With a subscriber count of over 30k, Freelance Switch is one of the largest Freelancer websites and communities on the web. Yesterday I received notice that an article I had written for them had been green-lighted and published to the site. Being both fan and subscriber to the site I was excited to see it happen.

If you have a couple of minutes I’d appreciate you take the time to head over to Freelance Switch and read the article: http://freelanceswitch.com/freelancing-essentials/what-ive-learned-about-freelancing-from-my-13-month-old-son/

One thing I would ask, I love feedback and comments but to ever have a chance of writing again I would prefer any responses left there be kept professional. Singling me out as your neighbor, cousin or son followed by “whoo hoo, I knew you could do it” or “you got ‘er dun” would seriously restrict my chances of ever writing for someone else again. Similarly, if you’ve ever acted in a similar fashion in front of your kids and their friends in any situation, you should be reprimanded.

I Am Second

It’s exciting to me to see church media and their creators starting to get it. For far too long, the materials presented to the public were sub-par.

I Am Second, gets it.

A ministry that concerns itself with both substance and style. One of the best presentations in any field I have seen in a long while.

If you’ve got some time, I’d recommend watching a story or two. Wonderfully crafted, beautiful messages.
