Jimmy V week 2009

Two years ago yesterday I posted the speech Jim Valvano gave at the 1993 ESPY awards after receiving the innaugural Arthur Ashe Courage Award. His body gave into the cancer that had consumed it just a couple of months after giving the speech.

I encourage you, just as I did two years ago, to take 10 minutes to watch it in its entirety. It is both uplifting and inspiring (to me anyways). He does a good job of boiling life down to the most important parts and reminds you to enjoy the little things.

The foundation formed by Jimmy V and ESPN is still active in cancer research and I have heard that every direct dollar raised at the V Foundation goes to research cures for the deadly disease.
